Scope of work
What NK Construction & Design did
- Open living, dining, and kitchen layout
- Custom kitchen with walnut cabinetry and storage island
- Floating open-riser staircase with skylight above
- Light hardwood flooring and recessed lighting throughout
- Primary suite with custom walk-in closet and spa bathroom
- Backyard patio, lawn, and landscaping
Interior character
Light, stairs, and street-facing windows
The front living room opens to a large picture window and a front door with a stained-glass transom, a nod to Fishtown's rowhome character. Tray ceilings with cove lighting run the length of the main floor.
At the center, a floating staircase with thick wood treads and a steel stringer rises under a skylight, framed by a black steel horizontal-bar railing that opens the stairwell to the dining area.
Kitchen renovation
A bold, warm kitchen built for cooking
Floor-to-ceiling walnut cabinetry with integrated panels lines one wall, balanced by light upper cabinets, an integrated range hood, and a white vertical-stack tile backsplash with lit floating shelves.
A red-and-white checkerboard tile floor gives the room its personality. The long quartz island includes an oversized undermount sink and open shelving on the end, and a sliding door leads straight out to the yard.
Primary suite
A bright, calm retreat
The primary bedroom is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the neighborhood rooftops.
A custom walk-in closet with dark wood shelving, drawers, and shoe storage sits against a terracotta accent wall, leading to a primary bathroom with a freestanding soaking tub and large-format hexagon floor tile.
Upper level
A flex room and convenient laundry
A large-windowed room with a yellow accent wall works as a reading lounge and home office, and a hallway laundry closet keeps a stacked washer and dryer close to the bedrooms.
Outdoor living
A backyard for relaxing and gathering
Off the kitchen, a concrete patio steps down to a lawn edged with planting beds, a stepping-stone path, and a gravel seating area under young trees, all enclosed by fencing for privacy.
